Town Forum Update
Thursday 21st June 2012
Lostwithiel Town Forum
Promoting the social, economic and environmental enhancement of Lostwithiel and the surrounding area
In March the Forum co-ordinated a very successful Spring Clean Week within the town which was wonderfully supported by individuals and groups alike. As a result a significant amount of litter was removed from kerbs, parks, hedgerows, riverbanks and much more. It was great to see so many residents, young and old, getting involved. We are now following up on a range of ideas which came from the week. We plan to run a second event in the Autumn from September 15th to 23rd – please do let us know your views, and if you would like to get involved. The Town Council have also reviewed the state of the dog litter bins and expect to replace some shortly.
For our next project we are considering establishing a University of the Third Age (U3A) in Lostwithiel. U3As are self-help, self-managed lifelong learning co-operatives for people no longer in full time work, providing opportunities for their members to share learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups and to pursue learning not for qualifications, but for fun. If you would like to hear more about this organization please contact us.
Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 10th July at 7.30 in the Platform meeting room on the station. Please feel free to come along with any suggestions you have.
In the meantime if you have any ideas which you think we could help with we can be contacted by
