Post Office to move into Londis
Thursday 24th April 2014
Lostwithiel's Post Office is planned to move from its current building into Londis. Sub-postmaster Gary Shaw will be retiring in June, and Londis owners Jeff and Julie Manwaring have applied to take over the branch and move it into their shop.
The Post Office is conducting a public consultation, with paper copies of the consultation document available in the Post Office and Community Centre and an online version available here.
The conversion is part of a 3 year investment by Post Office Ltd with around 6000 branches converting to new style branches. A number of Post Offices in Cornwall have moved into convenience stores in recent years, with PO products and services avaialble from an open plan till alongside retail goods during shop opening hours.
If the move goes ahead, the new branch would be open for 7 days a week: 7am-9pm from Monday to Saturday and 8.30am-7pm on Sundays. Currently the Post Office is open 9am-5.30pm (closed for lunch 1pm-2pm) Monday to Friday and 9am-12.30pm on Saturdays. Access and parking will be almost identical for customers.
The Lostwithiel consultation will close on May 22.
