Lostwithiel will host a brand new three day folk music festival in mid September called LostinFolk. The inaugural festival will take place on the weekend of 16, 17 and 18 September and promises a spell-binding mix of roots music from around the UK.

The festival will offer four concerts over the three days plus a late-night ceilidh after the Saturday evening concert. The line-up includes well known folk and acoustic artists who will be familiar to many of the county’s folk club audiences including Jez Lowe & the Bad Pennies, Richard Digance, Johnny Coppin & Mike Silver, Sally Barker, and Exeter’s Wildwood Kin.

Audiences will also have the opportunity to enjoy exploring the effervescent Gerry Colvin Band, world folk music rhythms of the Hut People, and Cambridgeshire mandolinist Daniel Nestlerode. Add to this impressive list the Americana and rocky blues of the Spikedrivers, Suffolk’s Broadside Boys with their tales of local characters, the full on fiddle led Celtic fusion of the Roving Crows, and last but certainly not least, the folk rock dance masters of experimentation Tickled Pink for the ceilidh, and there is certainly a diverse mix of musical genres to appeal to everyone!

The festival is curated by Scott Butler, who for the last eighteen years has organised Cromer’s highly respected ‘Folk on the Pier’ festival. This festival proudly flies the flag for the folk rock genre and regularly brings together folk rock artists from all the Celtic nations. For a few years Mr Butler has been looking for another location to organise a similar event and having fallen in love with Lostwithiel has now decided that is the place.

‘I am very often asked to stage events, but sadly the locations have nothing endearing about them. It’s not just about programming the music, it is equally important to stage an event in an attractive environment. Lostwithiel is such a place and there are also lots of great places to visit within a short driving distance such as Fowey, the Eden Project, Lanhydrock and much more.’ Mr Butler explains.

All concerts, and the ceilidh will be held in Lostwithiel Community Centre and tickets can be bought for individual concerts or for the whole series.
