Lostwithiel Food Festival

The historic town of Lostwithiel is not only known for its wealth of antique shops, but now also for a fantastic range of food establishments ranging from traditional pubs to fine dining restaurants, bistros, award-winning tea rooms, independent retailers and producers.
The town's "foodies" in conjunction with the Lostwithiel Business Group held the first Lostwithiel Food Festival from October 26th to 31st.
Here's what was on offer:
Events at Bellamama Deli
There's a barista coffee exhibition by Origin Coffee on October 27th giving you all you need to know about making and enjoying good coffee. On October 28th-31st there'll be tastings at the deli from 10am each day, and on October 29th-31st enjoy fresh pizza tasting.
Taste the catch of Cornwall at the Country Fryer
Visit on 29th October for a free tasting of locally caught, fresh deep-fried fish.
Half price cream tea at Duchy Coffee Shop
October 29th from 2pm-5pm.
Events at the Earl of Chatham
Go for a pasty and a pint on October 26th-31st from 12pm-3pm for £5. Then on October 31st there's a Curry Friday Night especially for Hallowe'en.
Pasty and pie tasting at Fran's Pantry
October 26th from 10am-3pm.
Matching wine with food at the Globe Inn
On October 27th there'll be a five-course taster menu including a different wine for each course with an expert sommelier to talk about the wines. Numbers are limited so booking essential.
Cornish Cheese tasting at the King's Arms
October 26th-30th in the bar from 6pm.
We're Game at Liddicoats Butchers
Come in from October 26th-31st for advice on cooking game and special game recipes.
Fruit and veg special at Londis
On October 27th and 28th visit for the local range of autumnal fruit and veg at special prices - including pumpkins ready for Hallowe'en.
Tasting of lardy cake and tigers feet at Lostwithiel Bakery
For the sweet-toothed on October 26th-31st.
Food Festival special at the Lostwithiel Hotel and Golf Club
Three nights for the price of two at £230 per person to include dinner, B&B and golf from October 26th-31st.
Meet the producers at Muffins Tea Room and Deli
A special tasting evening of local produce on October 28th - a free but ticketed event.
A paper and a pint at Penhaligons Newsagents
Come for a tasting of Cornish beers on October 29th.
Two for one dinner offer at Restormel Lodge Hotel

Festival two-course special at the River Brasserie
October 27th-30th, two courses for £9.99 using a range of suppliers from the town. Booking advisable.
Weekend special break at the Royal Oak
On October 30th and 31st there's a special offer of room, dinner and B&B for £100 for two nights.
Seafood special at the Royal Talbot
Fresh local seafood on October 26th.
Cornish gourmet menu with Sharps gourmet ales at Trewithen Restaurant
October 27th-30th, a three course gourmet dinner with a different gourmet ale matching each course. £25 per head, booking advisable.
Organic and fair trade tasting at Watts Trading
October 28th, a tasting of the varied mix of organic and fair trade products available in the store.
Cider Renaissance 09
October 31st from 12pm-6pm. The culmination of the week will be the first Lostwithiel cider festival. Many local producers and suppliers will be exhibiting and selling a fantastic range of local ciders.
