Several events will be held in Lostwithiel to commemorate the Centenary of the end of World War One.
On Friday November 9th there will be a Junior Festival in St Bartholomew’s Church at 2pm, with Lostwithiel, St Winnow, Lerryn, Lanlivery, Braddock and Roselyon schools taking part.
That evening (November 9th) at 6.45pm in St Bartholomew’s Church, there will be a full Festival of Remembrance, with Lostwithiel Town Band and Lost in Song. Entry is FREE, but by ticket only, because seating is very limited given the space occupied by the Band and Choir. The FREE Tickets are available from from Watts Trading, Lerryn Village Stores or St Brevita’s Church, Lanlivery.
On Sunday November 11th, Armistice Day, all are invited to assemble by the Drill Hall at 10.30am, before marching to the War Memorial on the Parade for a Commemoration of Remembrance and the laying of wreaths. This will be followed by a march to St. Bartholomew’s Church for a Remembrance Service.
PLEASE NOTE this is different to previous years and is changed so that we can link in with the National Commemoration.
On the Sunday evening at 6.45pm there will be a final Commemoration by torchlight at the War Memorial. Please bring your own torch and be prepared to be shown where to stand in the Parade. The Festival of Commemoration will finish with a special peal of the Church Bells commencing at 7.05pm.
A Memorial Booklet is being produced naming the 91 men from our parishes fallen in the First World War, which will be available from Lost in Books on Quay Street, from Watts Trading, or in the Church on Friday evening, for only £1. There is also a bespoke Memorial Pin available for £2 from Lost in Books.
