Lanhydrock House shortlisted to welcome acclaimed British artist
Tuesday 19th February 2013
Lanhydrock House has reached the final stages of a ‘Museums at Night’ competition to work with the artist Mat Collishaw. It is now open for public votes and the property is asking everyone possible to vote for them. Click here to place your vote.
National Trust staff are really keen to win this to bring acclaimed artist Mat Collishaw, a contemporary of Damien Hirst and Tracy Emin and one of the original ‘Sensations’ artists, to Lanhydrock.
Mat is famous for his edgy photography and his large scale sculptural zoetropes - Victorian optical toys which work like a motion picture projector. They hope that Mat will be enlisting the help of visitors to make one of these zoetropes as part of an evening celebrating the Victorians’ love of visual illusions.
Lanhydrock House is competing with three other venues who want Mat to host their event. So, if you would like to see a renowned artist come to Cornwall, have the opportunity to learn about his work and help him make one of his sculptures, you need to make your voice heard.
A public vote will run from February 19 to 5 March, and the venue with the most support will win Mat for an evening in May. All votes are entered into a free draw for tickets.
