Teresa Fuller painting

In January 2025  Sarah and Mike Worne discovered a 10-foot painting depicting the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in their recently purchased barn near Lostwithiel.  A signature on the back of the painting reads "Teresa Fuller 1951–1952," but little is known about the artist. The painting is currently housed in St Bartholomew's Church in Lostwithiel.

The discovery of the painting has produced considerable national coverage, initiated by a feature on the BBC Radio Cornwall breakfast programme.

UPDATED 24TH APRIL 2025

Fuller Paintig Expo St Barts

A small exhibition was held at St Bartholomew's Church  Lostwithiel on 23rd April 2025 to provide an update to the widely reported news story about Sarah and Mark Worne finding a large crucifixion painting hidden in a barn on a recently purchased piece of land. The story was carried by the BBC on 29th January 2025 and may be read via this link.

Sarah's investigations have discovered that the artist is Teresa Fuller, but this is her adoptive Catholic name. Her birth name is Edith Violet Fuller, born in 1900, and she studied at the Slade School of Art.

The previous owner of the property  purchased the painting at auction in Greenwich SE London during the 1990s and  apparently  drove it back to Cornwall on the roof of her car.

The painting  is a very large piece, measuring approximately 9 feet by 7 feet,  and in surprisingly good condition, considering where it has been stored for over 30 years, However it does need a good clean and some consolidation to preserve it properly for the future.  Sarah has received a quote for  £1500  to restore the panel.  A GoFundMe page has been launched to help pay for this restoration.
