Roberta Hopkins Studio

I am a contemporary abstract painter, printmaker and mixed media artist inspired by the colour and texture of the rocks and rugged coastline of Cornwall.

I take endless photos whilst out exploring, and slip the odd interesting pebble into my pocket to take home. It is these photos that inform my work back in the studio where I use acrylics and mixed media to give texture. Many layers of paint are sanded back and scratched into to reveal previous layers with unexpected results.

I also work with collage, using papers which I have printed myself, and also enjoy making sketchbooks using my own artwork as covers.

I occasionally run workshops at The Red Store in Lerryn.
