John Scott - Social Research & Local Transport Action
I am an author and social researcher in sociology with a background in university education and social science research and have written more than 40 books. My books are principally academic texts and monographs for universities and colleges. In 2013 I was awarded a CBE for services to social science. Although I am retired from teaching, I am very happy to give free advice on coursework research projects in sociology and related subjects to local school and college students. I can be contacted through my website, where you can find out more about my research and writings.
In addition, I have been involved in campaigns for improving bus and train services in Lostwithiel, working through the Town Forum, and have helped to bring about a vastly improved rail service, a local bus service, and the current plans for a footbridge at the level crossing. I now work through the Business Group to further improve services and facilities. I have worked closely with the GWR Timetabling and Customer Service Groups, with various bus companies, and with Cornwall Council. I have made submissions to Government consultations and am involved with regional transport bodies such as Travel Watch South West to promote Lostwithiel and support the prosperity of the town, its residents, visitors, and local businesses. I am happy to hear from anyone with ideas about helpful public transport improvements.
