Hi, I'm Andy,
Welcome to our charming and historic Town of Lostwithiel in the stunningly beautiful County of Cornwall. Founded by the Normans in the 12th century along the banks of the river Fowey (pronounced "Foy.")
Lostwithiel itself has all the amenities one requires (restaurants, shops, cafes, pubs, excellent walking etc,) and with its central location is an ideal base for visiting Cornwall's many attractions.
Nearby attractions are Restormel Castle - see cover photo - fought over in the English Civil War.
6 miles downstream is the historic port of Fowey, named after the river. Fans of "Daphne de Maurier" will appreciate her connection with Fowey.
Looe - charming harbour town where the BBC crime drama "Beyond Paradise" is set.
Charlestown - historic harbour with tall ships and restaurants. The setting for many films and TV dramas including "The Eagle has landed" and "Poldark."
The fascinating Eden Project is only 6 miles away.
Mevagissey - another charming and working harbour town akin to Padstow but without the crowds.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan are only 2 miles from Mevagissey so combining the 2 makes for a full days itinerary.
If you fancy a hike or a pleasant drive, rugged Bodmin Moor is close by but beware of "The Beast of Bodmin Moor !" Golitha falls and the Minions are a worthy visit.
And wherever you visit don't forget the obligatory cream tea - don't forget mind, Jam first !
