Uzella Court Antiques
Uzella Court Antiques and Fine Art can be found in the old mediaeval town of Lostwithiel nestled in a valley, surrounded by wooded hills, beside the River Fowey.
Lostwithiel in recent years has become known as the antiques centre of Cornwall, this stannary town boasts not only a delightful array of antique shops of nine within easy walking distance but also a variety of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and bakers.
Founded by the Norman lords, Lostwithiel became the administrative centre for Cornwall relying on streaming for tin on the moors, by the 15th century the river began to silt up and lost its course and became innavigable to sea going vessels. As Lostwithiel lost its shipping and tin trade to Fowey it developed alternative trades in tanning, pottery and pewter.
Modern Lostwithiel has developed into an almost Breton style town with the striking 13th and 14th century church as its focal point overlooked by Restormel castle from the wooded hills above.
