A Request for Help
My apologies for bothering you like this, but perhaps you can help me.
A friend of mine in Dresden is doing historical research for the Graf Fabrice, von Gundlach and Payne-Smith Trust in Switzerland. The founder of the trust, Count Eberhard von Fabrice, was a Saxon officer who came to England in 1902 and married a Miss Ethel (Queenie) Payne-Smith. This lady seems to have been born in Levington on 12 February 1868. The couple settled in Lostwithiel (in “Castle Lostwithiel”, surely not Restormel Castle?) where Ethel von Fabrice died in 1926. Count von Fabrice himself died there in 1942. They remained childless. Little else is known about them.
Anything you can tell me about the von Fabrice family will be much appreciated.
